This well-known wine town grew up thanks to the intersection of two trade routes "Jantárová" and "Podanujská". Among the first written mentions of Devín is a deed from 1237 under the name "Villa Thebyn", but the development of crafts and its strategic location ensured that it acquired the character of a small town already in 1428. The town was subject to the Devín castle.
